LifeIO: 100 Invitations for WWD Readers

LifeIO is an ambitious web app that aims to be a kind of digital hub that you can use to aggregate all the stuff you do on the web. It provides a dashboard that you can use to access your email, Twitter, RSS feeds, calendar, contacts, to-do lists, etc. The service is currently in private closed beta, but we have 100 invitations for WebWorkerDaily readers if you’d like to try it out: Just use the invitation code “GigaOm” (it’s case-sensitive) when signing up.
If you managed to snag a LifeIO account, let us know what you think of the app in the comments.

Well i like it, its comfy and puts everything in one place so i wont need to have several tabs in the browser open to check all my feed and emails at the same moment, the difficulty is with the gmail inbox they have more features that are not yet on lifeIO, but is really nice
I wasn’t actually all that impressed… let me rephrase. I’m impressed with the idea, and I would love to be able to aggregate everything I have into one place, but I would like it to be all sync-based rather than having some apps native to lifeio such as the tasks and contacts (import only) and some sync-based. I would rather have all sync functionality and no apps within the program at all.
we’re working on sync functionality for all of the principal personal information apps.
I appreciated the one-stop shop for all my inbound and outbound contacts, but I also dreaded being yoked to one solution for *every*thing. I guess I got cold feet when it occurred to me that the interface looked like a souped-up version of MobileMe from Apple. You know what — in general I like the idea of SaaS applications, but I also like picking apps a la carte, not in a bundle (or prix fixe, to continue the anology). If the invitations are in short supply, feel free to take mine and re-assign it to someone who would like it. But thanks for the chance to look and … good luck! I can see a whole set of people who would be far more likely to use the bundled apps.
lifeIO is working toward the ability for it’s users to “plug in” any of your favorite “a la carte” apps, notifications & updates.the goal of lifeIO is to be optimally “user centric” and enable lifeIO users to create their own “bundles”

Invitation code “GigaOm” is not valid or has expired.
We have just been given 50 more invitations; try again :)

The 100 invitations must have run out — unlucky to everyone who missed out.
UPDATED: We’ve just received another 50 invitations (same code)
Got mine. Now let’s test drive this one!
Great idea. For me, the being able to sync Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Notes, and Feeds across accounts is essential.
Also, I have my feed list on Google Reader, being able to import that automatically or at least being able to import from an xml file would be great.
hi carlos,
we’re working on sync right now. we’re waiting to hear feedback from first lifeIO users about exactly what kind of sync they need.
as for feeds import lifeIO HAS THAT NOW. just go to google reader “settings” Import/Export then “Export your subscriptions as an OPML file” then go to lifeIO, the setup tab in the top menu bar and click on “Import” scroll down to Import RSS Subscriptions and if you’ve exported an OPML file from google reader just find the file and import it into lifeIO.
Firstly, thank you for the invitation codes and the opportunity to try out this new web app.
I love the concept, it’s certainly innovative, but I guess I’m too entrenched in Google to appreciate it properly.
I use Google’s email, calendar, feeds, docs, pretty much everything really, and I find that using the Flock browser integrates all my Google stuff nicely with other things I use frequently, being Flickr, Facebook and Twitter.
I can read/update Twitter from within Gmail now, and using the “GButts” Flock/Firefox browser addon, I only have to click once to open my Gmail, reader, calendar, docs etc. Flickr and Facebook integrate very tightly with the Flock browser too, so for me there seems no advantage in using LifeIO.
However, I do admire what they’re trying to do and will keep an eye on it!
our lifeIO vision is to become the “swiss army knife” of web apps. no browser addons or downloads necessary. operable across all major browsers and connected to all major web services via api’s/rss etc. it’s ambitious, i know, especially in a world of ad hoc apps cobbled together by passionate users. but it’s fun to take on that challenge. thx for your feedback and keep it coming!
cheers,
bruce

This looks like how I use netvibes. But I’m using RSS widets and lots of iframes, saves me TONS of time.I can’t wait to try this.
Shame iGoogle blows when it comes to iframes.
