I think personally that the reason o2 are doing this, is because in the past only people who have known the feature was available have given it a good go, hence not that many users have used the tethering feature on other phones, although it has been available. With the release of the iPhone making it so easy to use the tethering feature with one button to press, and connect via a cable, it's opened up that option to thousands of people who wouldn't have had the technical knowledge to do it otherwise.

Nonetheless, i'm an iPhone user and I'm pretty annoyed that o2 have done this as their service up to now has been fairly good value for money, it's a shame I can't move to a different provider.

The whole thing is absolutely ridiculous. An additional £15-£30 to a so-called 'Unlimited Data' which you already pay over the odds for. It's about time these companies are challenged on there policy's.

I love apple and personally think there products are worth every penny, even if they are on the expensive side. But O2 are exploiting the fact they have monopolized the iPhone UK market, leaving the consumer without much choice.

Imagine the BBC start charging you extra to watching there programs on a different television. What difference does it make?

Rant over :)

Thanks Ric - I suspected as much, that iPhone subscribers are being singled out. Thanks for the tip!

I own an O2 XDA device which uses Windows Mobile. I also too have an unlimited data plan, and I can use tethering through a windows computer FREE OF CHARGE. O2 are blatenly ripping off iPhone customers.
