Caffeine as fuel as Web Workers? Huh?

What? Are you thinking every other profession just sips cranberry juice? I don't get it...

Unfortunately, a bear cub and its mother once got between me and my morning cup. Unfortunately for the bears.

While one might argue that Internet social resources such as blog sites, email forums, and other Web 2.0 practices have threatened the local coffee shop, LCS, as a place to gather and exchange thoughts, the LCS remains king. Nothing comes close to replacing caffeine dosing and interesting conversation face to face. If only businesses and technology create a virtual replacement of this experience.

In the meantime, live video, on-line and video podcasting will have to make due.

If I didn't have a cup a day, I would be a migraine-infested zombie who can just grunt and moan.

Coffee shops are great, but can be expensive. I prefer to work and drink coffee at my house.

@Slavko good for you... the soda will kill you. funny post on lifehacker yesterday about using it to clean toilets.

Seriously, I don't think people understand what coffee can do to you and your insides. I went from a pot a day to going on 5 months now with none.

Sticking with tea.. that's the way to go. Walking around with loose tea in a funny tea brew thing always sparks up conversations and has it's place in a healthy webworker world.

My caffeine addiction has always been tied to soda(coca cola). First thing, pop open a can of cold refreshing caffeine. Of course, as I have aged, drinking 6-8 sodas a day has not benefited my health(up to 1120 empty calories a day), and I am now in the process of going through withdrawals by going cold.

A great post on working from coffee shops from a couple years ago called Going Bedouin suggests that office space is unnecessary and maybe irrelevant for independent creatives like us. I don't think he focused enough on the caffeine, though.

Ben, very interesting. I wonder if we could make similar comparisons with tea and Asian populations?

An interesting anecdote about the history of coffee - at a time when Western Europe was saturated with poor-quality beer as the primary beverage for a lot of people, the Ottoman Empire was drinking coffee loaded with sugary substances. This coincides with Western Europe being in the Dark Ages and the Ottoman Empire being the (then) height of scientific inquiry.

Curious, no?
