I can load half a dozen tabs with my "usual suspects" about as fast as I can hit cmd-T and a couple of keystrokes. Heh -- I did a little meme a while back where I typed in each letter of the alphabet and posted the first entry in the autocomplete list for each one. It was a pretty good representation of me and my websurfing habits. Highly customizable, nice interface, and just plain useful! It does have a toolbar button, but only for preferences. You don't NEED a toolbar button because you just open a new tab and you have all your sites ready to dial on the new "about:blank" tab. Can you tell I'm a fan?? LOVE Fast Dial. It doesn't have a toolbar button, but IMO this is something you wouldn't use frequently enough to want to waste a toolbar button on.
