If you’re a Windows user, you’re probably very familiar with how files, and even unwanted applications can get littered around your computer over time. Add to that the programs you’ve probably installed but never use, and it can make sense to run an effective Uninstaller application. I use an excellent one from the world of freeware called Revo Uninstaller.

Revo Uninstaller has the features you’ll find in other similar programs, but what’s best about it is its “Hunter Mode.”

Using Hunter Mode in Revo Uninstaller, you can get rid of even the most stubborn applications that somehow find ways to defy you from uninstalling them. For example, I find that Adobe produces a lot of these annoying mini applications that won’t uninstall on any basis. At what point did I ever install Adobe Photo Downloader? I never did. But there it was in my Windows system tray the other day.

Hunter Mode delivers information to you about the applications you have installed, including whether they auto-start whenever you load Windows. It is also flexible enough to allow you to completely uninstall applications you don’t want, or simply specify that you don’t want them to automatically start even though you want to keep them.

In some cases, you may have previously uninstalled applications but left litter around unintentionally. Revo Uninstaller scans for all remnants of application data, and scans the Windows registry so that you can be entirely rid of these annoyances.

For keeping a Windows PC clean and uncluttered, I recommend this piece of freeware, and doing regular scans with Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware, which I wrote about here. Like Revo Uninstaller, the Malwarebytes application tends to find junk that other applications will not find.
