Save Some Bucks on a MacBook

Have you been wishing you could join the ranks of the Mac-enabled mobile workforce, but not wanting to spend the money to buy a MacBook? Now might be the time to reconsider, because Apple has updated their Refurbished Mac page with some fresh deals, including:
- MacBook Air markdowns from $1800 to $1400 and $2100 to $2300
- 15″ MacBook Pro models starting at $1700 insead of $2000
- 17″ MacBook Pro models starting at $2300
They also have regular MacBooks as well as a variety of desktop Macs for sale. All of these machines are refurbished, which means Apple has tested, cleaned, and repackaged them with full documentation and original software. They come with a 1-year warranty. Of course, you won’t be on the cutting edge when new models are announced – but sometimes it’s worth avoiding the cutting edge to get substantial savings.

Wow, $2100 marked down to $2300? Those darn Apple guys are so good at finding ways to make money! ;) I’m sure that will get fixed quickly.
They are indeed a good deal. My current Macbook Pro is a refurb bought just under 2 years ago. If the laptop hadn’t come in a box marked ‘REFURBISHED’, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between it and a brand new non-refurbished one. The unit was immaculate.
I’m now looking to upgrade, and am considering yet anohter refurbished model.
I rather just buy a cheaper PC laptop, and put Linux on it. Sorry but I am still not going to jump on the bandwagon just because of all this hype that is being broadcasted about Macs. If there is anything else I need from one of the other OS’s I will just run it through VM. I feel Macs are still are a much better computer solution for the non-techy, or new to computers crowd though, as they usually are willing to spend more money on something they have no clue about.
Wow, just Linux. Non techie, not usually how I’m described. As a web designer I also support an industry that uses Macs, not to mention Adobe products I have to have.
Maybe you could tone down the prejudice just a tad. Its a Unix based OS and certified Unix at that, probably could run a VM on it for your beloved Linux.
Jason – Yeah, because my mac is so ill suited for web development. I barely get by building my sites using django with only TextMate and Coda… horribly inferior tools to say the least.
