Docstoc Adds Private Repositories

Document-sharing site Docstoc (who we’ve mentioned before) has rolled out a new feature: private documents with tracking. You’ve been able to upload documents privately to Docstoc for a while (so that they don’t show up on the main public site) but now you can track what happens to them more closely. When you visit one of your own private documents, the bottom of the page will now show you who has viewed, emailed, or downloaded the document.
The obvious use for this feature is to track whether everyone on a distribution list has seen an agenda or other meeting prep document. You can also choose to mark a private document as copyrighted, in which case it’s presented as an image to make it harder for people to make copies (obviously, if someone can see a document they can take a picture, but this at least blocks cut and paste).
