Google Sites Opens its Doors

ScreenshotYou may remember that Google Sites – the reincarnation of the once-great JotSpot – launched in late February. At the time, it was available only for Google Apps users (see our in-depth review). Now, Google has opened up Sites use to anyone, whether they have a Google Apps account or not (if you’re not seeing the public creation page, make sure you’re not logged into a Google Apps account when you visit).

Google Sites does offer easy on-demand wiki creation – but it’s still missing many of the advanced programmability features that JotSpot offered before its acquisition. If the Google name doesn’t sell you, there are plenty of other folks in the same business, including PBWiki, Huddle, and Springnote.
