Opera 9.5: Looking Good

May 8th, 2008 (8:00am) Mike Gunderloy 3 Comments

ScreenshotFirefox is not the only browser with a new beta release out there. Opera 9.5 is the latest release from the fourth browser maker, and it’s second beta version – just released – is a full-featured browser with a lot to offer. Besides the new Dragonfly developer tools and the Opera Link synchronization technology, it’s also got a batch of other improvements.

These include using both the PhishTank and NetCraft databases to protect against phishing, improved performance on Mac OS X, and support for EV SSL certificates. My favorite new feature, though, is Quick Find. If you’re trying to get back to a site you’ve visited before, just start typing whatever text you remember into the address bar, and Opera does a full-text search in its history. If you haven’t tried Opera in a few versions, this is a great time to give it another spin.
