Jiffle Gets its Web On

When last we looked at self-service scheduling engine Jiffle, we pronounced it easy to use but warned of its dependency on Microsoft Outlook. Well, it still works with Outlook, but there are now a pair of options that make it much more useful to the web worker. First, they’re enabled their own online Jiffle Calendar, which you can use to hold all of your Jiffle-based appointments.
Even better, though, they’ve also integrated with Google Calendar. Given the number of other tools that work with and sync with Google Calendar, this is likely to be the best path for web workers. If you need to let other people schedule part of your time, check it out.

The best part is the integration with G Calendar and Webex. With millions already using these two to schedule / or to have meetings, Jiffle’s integration with these will be a real clincher.
Yet to use Jiffle, but will do soon!
What about their revenue model, I wonder!

What integration with GCal? It can post an appointment that is confirmed on your Google Calendar (big deal) and it puts up a tab that shoves your GCal (normally seen beautifully on my 22″ monitor) into a smushed iframe of sorts. Why on earth would anyone choose to view their GCal that way?
Is this even a review by wwd?
Moreover, the needed feature that I’m just waiting for someone to get right, is to read our GCal, add a buffer to appointments of our choosing (20 min before, 10 min after, or what-have-you) and display our availability after blocking out other event types and calendars from our GCal. This does nothing of the sort.
So, each day you’ll have to go into Jiffle and update it with other appointments and events you have coming into Google Calendar. You’ll have to keep Jiffle up to date “just in case” someone might want to use your public web calendar to schedule an appointment.
Worse, even though you have repeating events in GCal, since they don’t transfer over, you’ll have to put those events in your Jiffle every week. Also, you can’t set a repeating availability (i.e Mondays from 9am to 5pm, minus 12pm - 1pm). You’ll have to do that for every Monday.
I hate to say it’s “lame” because I see the potential. If they could shore up their interface (which is cheeky at best), add these “features” (although I hate to call them features because without them, it’s largely useless), then I think they’d be 90 percent there. Until then, I hope WWD does a little better job of scoping out an app before just repeating their press release.
