Cricket Wireless is a low-cost provider of cell phone services that is known for having a cheap price for unlimited minutes. The trade-off is you only get specific areas that the cell phone will work in. Currently Cricket offers service in Nashville, Spokane, Santa Fe, Portland, Oregon, and the Central Valley of California.
If you’re lucky enough to live in one of these areas and you want to get a high-speed EVDO modem, you can get the service for a minimal $35/month. A comparable service plan on Verizon/Sprint is $60/month.
This is a great deal for tight-pocketed web workers who need on-the-go access to the Internet.

It’s not EVDO, fyi. Cricket’s network is CDMA.

EVDO is the high speed data network that is used over the CDMA network. So yes, Cricket (Sprint’s) network is CDMA, but this data card uses EVDO for data access.

Cricket is not an MVNO. They have their own network.

Thanks for the clarification Jason. I must of been confused. Cricket is EVDO rev 0 (slower) and Sprint/Verizon are EVDO rev 1, correct? Also with the Cricket service you are limited to a laptop with a Cardbus slot.. (no expresscard or usb offerings yet!)
