Open Thread: What Did You Get This Year?

It’s the day after the great American gift-giving holiday for many of us. In offices all over the land, people are clustering around the water cooler to compare notes on how they made out. If you’re one of the lucky ones who found a new computer under the tree, you’re probably still busy tweaking things to make it perfect for you. Don’t forget our past tips on web worker standards like Firefox, Outlook, Gmail, iGoogle, and Google Talk.
When it comes to bragging, why should web workers be any different? Here’s your chance to tell the tribe what cool gadgets and gizmos you got that are going to make your online life easier in the coming year. Or if Santa only brought you socks and ties, remember, there are still a few days to get those 2007 tax deductions in: what are you going to buy for yourself?

This year was tight, so we scaled back a bunch. Last year’s gift from my wife will hold me over for years though. A Wacom Cintiq 21UX Best. Gift. Ever. :^D

Really nice earphones (Ultimate Ears super.fi Pro 5). Should be a little easier to concentrate now with the 7-year-old noise not so loud.
[I am a teen.]

I haven’t got anything yet. Being in Cyprus, we do celebrate Christmas with dinner, family time, and some gifts. But the real present getting time is the New Year’s Eve. Just a few days left… :)

Well, I got a Blue Snowball Mic for Xmas. Its a top grade usb condenser mic and works real nice! Produces a lot of presence with my voice, if you are in the market for one, Highly recommended.

I got Creative ZEN 8GB (and it’s almost full of audiobooks already)
And what did you get, Mike?
Have a great New Year!

For me, it was a matter of taking some Xmas cash and using it to register various bits of useful software: BetterZip, ZigVersion, Hazel and DevonAgent have joined my workflow. I’ve also got a Tactile Pro 2.0 keyboard on the way, but alas, it didn’t get here in time to rest under the tree. Just as well, it would have been lost in the pile of kids’ toys :)

So back to the question: What did I get this year?

I think my parents, especially my dad, got tired of me always complaining that I don’t have my own cam. So now, they bought me one. I got a brand new olympus digicam from my parents. It’s a birthday-christmas present.

I got a tiny Canon SD1000 to serve as a decent “carry everywhere” camera. It’s already paid off in some great candid shots.

I got a thermal coffee mug, so I can stop complaining about not having hot tea as I work on the computer!
