Dave,
I'm not certain what FB does, but with AcuInvoice we send an encrypted URL in an email and show the invoice as a web page. Within this page, you can attach a variety of file attachments--images, PDFs, .doc files, etc. You can also modify the email templates to include the items you mentioned. With regard to serving the invoice from a web page, we have chosen to do this both for security reasons and so that we can help you track that your invoice was actually received by the client--not as easy to do if you just send it as an attachment in the email. It's my guess that the folks at FreshBooks do the same thing, but again I'm not sure......Aaron?

Thanks for the thoughtful answers, folks!

I would agree w/ the last comment.

Actually, I don't know that I like them going to a domain at all. Is there any way to just attach a PDF invoice? That's what I've been doing for my clients. Also, any way to add some detail (e.g. invoice # and date) to the subject line?

Evaluating.

I honestly just wish freshbooks allowed you to map your domain. Having people go to another domain is just plain unprofessional.

Well, I've got nothing but good things to say about FreshBooks... but I am a little biased since I work here. :)

Dave, there are a bunch of things we do that Projux didn't; and to be perfectly frank, there's also things Projux did that we don't. They were always aimed at two slightly different crowds, but there's such a large functionality overlap between Projux and FreshBooks we figured we'd get in touch with them; at the core, they're both time tracking applications. Get in touch with us at the office here (1-866-303-6061, 9-6 ET, M-F) and I'll gladly talk you through it.

I'm sure you've seen we're offering Projux users a 30% lifetime discount on monthly fees, as a little token to make up for the hassle of switching. So be sure to hit us up for that if you do decide to go with a paid package.

We don't integrate with Google Checkout, you're right; we don't have concrete plans to, either. For now they remain in a place that isn't much use to us, but that could easily change in the near future. We certainly wouldn't rule it out. For now we've got a ton of supported gateways from Authorize.Net all the way through to PayPal and (soon) Amazon FPS, so we've done our best to provide something for everyone.

Cheers!

Dave,
I noticed your comment and wanted to let you know we integrated Google Checkout and Amazon FPS with AcuInvoicelast week. We're going to be issuing our first commercial release in January, but we're going to give early adopters a significant discount on paid plans.....or you can always just stick with the free plan we'll have. Either way, Google Checkout integration will be included. We'd love to have you give it a try.
Regards,
Sidney VanNess

What about Google Checkout? Things are just so much easier w/ them.

I used to have Authorize.Net via Charge.com, was too complicated given that I don't process many cards.

Now I have a little line "Want to make a one-time credit card payment? Let us know!" and I generate a Google Checkout request for payment if so.

Sure, it'd be cool if I can say "Want to pay this bill now? Click here." and it would go to Google Checkout.

I am about to sign up for FreshBooks, since Projux is dying end of year. Anybody have things to say about FreshBooks (small web development shop) and/or experiences migrating from Projux?

Thanks!
