Sync note concept is great but in my opinion to be really efficient the tool lacks a categorization features (tagging & tag cloud) and a search feature.

Another free on/off line notetaking system can be had by using TiddlyWiki (tiddlywiki.com) for gathering your own thoughts, the TiddlySnip plugin for Firefox (tiddlysnip.com) to gather info off the net, and then freely hosting the TiddlyWiki page on TiddlySpot (tiddlyspot.com). You keep a local file, and then sync with an online file when you can. Lost your local file? One click and you get the whole thing back off the net.

Features search, wiki interconectivity between notes, runs in any modern web browser (Even on a Wii), can be run off of a thumbdrive, e-mailed, encripted, and customized with more plugins and themes then you can shake a Wii mote at.

Another nice feature: Starting file size is about 400k.
