Now a constructive comment. Boot camp pales in comparison to Parallels or VMware (VMware is much nicer, in my opinion). The former may be nice for those who need need to run Windows non-virtualized, but I really can't imagine who those people are other than gamers. For anyone needing that one Windows app along with their usual OS X apps, virtualization is the only way to go. Who wants to take the time to keep rebooting back and forth?

While I'm not interested in replacing NetNewsWire with Apple Mail, I can see the RSS support here being useful for feeds from ticketing systems and the like, especially now that Mail supports to-do lists. I haven't actually installed Leopard yet (it's in the mail) and so haven't tried making this part of my workflow, but I can see how it might be useful for this type of thing. It definitely bears trying.

The major feature I'm looking forward to and that was skipped over here is Spaces, the virtual desktop support built into Leopard. As a former and still occasional Linux user, I've gotten used to virtual desktops, but none of the third-party apps for OS X have worked well for me. I'm excited to see what Apple has done in this area.

"Minor version increment" means nothing. This is just as much a new OS version as any Windows release, don't let the version number mislead you. How many different Windows versions were released with the same major number? Win2k, WinXP, and Server 2003 are all Windows 5.x. Solaris has been SunOS 5.x since 1992.

Maybe 10.6 will be out in a year, but we waited 2 1/2 years between 10.4 and 10.5, so this prediction isn't particularly based on reality either.

Lots of reasons why NOT to, at least not yet. Like FLASH uploads not working, and tons of Alien Skin plug ins not working either - I'm regretting switching over already ;-(

Hey Mike -- does it do anything nifty with gmail? After losing two logicboards (!!!) I'm loathe to go back to keeping my mail on my own desktop. I'm also hooked on threading email now, dangit.

(By the way, I was working on an essay about blogging motherhood -- argh -- for an assignment and had you worked into it from way back when but then you got lost in the edits. Still, I was thinking fondly of your web presence over the weekend!)

Less is more. I don't think that we will have the time
to use all the 300 new features. For the most part we will
mostly use the older feature we are familiar with.
