Dunno if its been covered but the big step to using them for origami is getting them into squares. So fold your index card from right to left. then bottom to top. Then make a triangle from the top right corner and cut along the end of the triangle. Now you have a square you can do most origami.

And now I'm going to get back to writing my papers and Getting Things Done. heh.

I use an index card every morning before I create a things to do list. I create my gratitude list by setting to card the top five things I'm grateful for that day. Get bogged down during the day...slip that baby out and give it a read.

Buy index cards, cut them in half (or thirds), hole punch them in the corner, and put them on a clasping ring...the kind with the hinge (you'll find them near the paper clips). You can buy a box of 10 for $0.75 at Wal-mart in assorted colors. You can fit about 300 on a one-inch ring. I buy them for my students at the beginning of the year. They fit in your pocket (when there are only 100). You can keep them in your car, purse, pocket, etc to study or make notes in those moments when you have long enough to learn a word or two, but not long enough to get in an in-depth study session.

3x5 make good name tags. Or fold them in half and use them as ad hoc placards.

Or affix tape to one side and engage in surreptitious social tagging. ("Kick me.")
