Injured my back last year and was in constant pain anytime I was working. This went on for months and significantly impacted my income as well as my psyche. My physical therapist recommended I replace my chair early on, but I couldn't see how it would make such a difference. Once I finally followed her advice my back pain quickly resolved. I have my MacBook and a Dell d620 that I use. Our 'family' computer is a small desktop that I rarely use unless I want a big monitor. I like having a laptop so that if I need to I can work in the kitchen or any other room. I rarely use the Dell unless I have to. If you need something very robust for whatever (Graphic Design) a laptop may not be ideal, otherwise a laptop with a docking station may be a great alternative.
