Why "mad genius"? :) GTD means "write everything", here we just use cards. But PoIC has its own ideology, like "no search" and "no classify". It is not arbitrary - so, if you are "tired to shuffle through it" then you probably just use it in wrong way, not understanding its principles :)

Hmm, am I the only one to remember the Windows 3.1(1) bundled app 'Card File'? Actually, I have played with Windows 1.0 and 2.0 and both had that app I seem to remember - never found much use for it - instead I remodeled Shoebox to be my everything and nothing apps...
(Oh, and if you're wondering, I'm from 1989 - not old at all, just have a long geek career, at an organization that stored too much old stuff...)

Actually, this system has been around for awhile, and made the rounds of GTD blogs last year. It's appealing, and I've tried a similar system of index cards, but it's a little too complicated and cumbersome over the long run. Works great for a week or two, but it gets to be work after awhile.

Moleskine pocket notebook has been working for me for awhile now. Simple and effective.

I feel exactly the same way. After reading Hawk's Web site, I bought piles of index cards, and I'm always wishing I could figure out a good way to use them. Unfortunately, when I actually tried to put his system into practice it didn't work so well for me. I got tired of shuffling through the cards all the time to find something. I'm sure I'll get back to it someday...
