Hi,

Thanks for the info. I've used Camtasia Studio and SnagIt before. Both have good features. Have you tried Adobe's Captivate software? I'm wondering how you'd compare it to Camtasia Studio.

Super is quite a nice little app. The author makes it a pain to download though, and I'm sure that someday it'll just disappear.

One of my clients has me convert her performance DVDs and upload the performances to Google Video every couple of months. I've found that Avidemux really helps with this (going from multiple .vobs, making edits, applying filters, then converting into something I can upload). I'm on Linux so if I need to use Super (it is very convenient) I use VNC to remote control my Windows desktop on the network and run the process there.

HandBrake is also a good option, it is an open source DVD to MPEG-4 converter that works on Windows, Mac and Linux.

You can't have a discussion about free video software without mentioning Virtualdub.

Info about what it does, and why it's essential here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VirtualDub

Get it here: http://www.virtualdub.org/
