Google acquires online slide authoring tool Zenter — Rashmi Sinha of Slideshare wonders why, since Google demoed their own PowerPoint clone at the Web 2.0 Expo. Nice graphic of the online PowerPoint competitor space, showing tools that support sharing and tools that support authoring. [Rashmi Sinha's blog]
Simplified invoice tracking — If an online billing solution like Freshbooks is too much for you, but you need a solution for tracking which invoices you’ve sent and whether they’ve been paid, try invotrak. Create your invoices using your own software (like Microsoft Word) then enter invoice information into invotrak. Now you can see in one place what you’re owed, by whom, and when it’s due. Send out email notifications to clients too. [invotrak]
Tips for virtual teams — Ten suggestions for making your distributed teams work well, including ensuring the tasks are meaningful and assigning only tasks that are challenging and interesting. Sounds utopian to me. [The Wall Street Journal]
Business opportunity: Wal-Mart reseller — Did you know that you can buy stuff on eBay that’s shipped from Wal-Mart, but sold by individuals? eBay sellers play arbitrage, finding a buyer willing to pay a bit more than the Wal-Mart price, then having Wal-Mart ship the goods directly to the buyer. The seller pockets the difference in price. [Half Changed World]
Social software for social significance — Swedish nonprofit Barnraiser offers the AROUNDMe tool for building collaborative web spaces with wikis, blogs, and forums. Barnraiser’s mission is “giving people the tools they need to share knowledge and advance open society through social software.” [Barnraiser]
Gotta go, gotta go! — Use your mobile phone browser to find the nearest facilities. [MizPee]
A cry for help — Deborah Ng’s overwhelmed by her email and wants some advice. What would you tell her? We have a few tips. Or there’s always email bankruptcy. [Work From Home Momma]

*Online invoice tracking!!* To think I hadn’t even thought of it to begin with, and already someone else has come up with an easier way. This is one that has been driving me crazy, with too many dropped balls and duplicate/skipped email invoices passing between a whole crazy *group* of us. I’m the newest kid on my block and the least techy of all, but you’ve given me so many good ideas just in the last two weeks that I think I might get to be the one who helps turn our own little group of virtual colleagues around. Thank you, thank you thank you!! :)
