nice article, thanks for that.
however, i personally prefer www.oos.cc which all in all looks more elaborated and sophisticated. they provide 1gb for file sharing, web publishing and online photo albums on your own domain! the only drawback this webtop has is the fact that it is not fully published open source. for me no problem though as i am a user and no server administrator :-)

Hi.

There seems to be confusion about what exactly an "OS" is. Basically, it can be Windows, or it can be OSX, or it can be Linux. But the so called "web os" is a misnomer. Between the hardware and your favorite applications, there is (or has been the operating system). Think of it as the launchpad for everything you do on a computer. Without an OS, a browser won't run, nor anything else for that matter. Without a real operating system, a perceived one isn't there either. Thanks.

Glide Mobile more than anything here demonstrates the possibilities of Web OS. I have a Windows Mobile Palm Treo and a Mac Book Pro and for the first time can access my files even quicktime movies, my Mac Address Book and iCal on my Palm Treo through Glide. The Quicktime movies play back in the Treo in the Windows Media player! I have edited photos in Glide on the Treo and even edited documents that I started on my Mac in Microsoft Word. The features are rich here and with the Verizon Network the experience is very responsive (can't speak to the T-Mobile and Cingular experience).

I will be happy to edit this post later and add GoPC if/when it works for me under Mac OS X.

Ahh, now that makes sense. The development crew are currently working on developing a client for the Mac OS and is one of our highest priorities. I'll keep you posted as and when there is a release.

Chris, I'm sorry that I didn't take the time to report the problem to you, but I was rushing to finish this post. The error I receive after installation, when I attempt to run the environment is: NX Client for Mac OS/X was not able to find the Apple X11 Server.

I will be happy to edit this post later and add GoPC if/when it works for me under Mac OS X.

Actually I was looking for a "browser application inside an application that’s running in a browser". I want same plugins and the same tabs open both at office and at home, for a seamless browsing experience. Any other better solutions out there for this?
