Hiring has benefits for personal life as well. Outsourcing tasks mean more time for family and for recreation. Each person to find a balance that works for themselves.

I had to laugh when I saw the post from the virtual assistant who outsources writing. I love to write and hate do organizational stuff. And, that's the beauty of outsourcing, in my view. If people didn't outsource (and what is delegation, really, but a kind of outsourcing), most of us wouldn't have work at all.

Occasionally taking a break to do some data entry may be a good mental exercise for me. Occasionally writing in a journal or taking on a small editing project may be a good exercise for a VA. I disagree with the Puritan mindset that says we should take on these tasks as a sort of penance!
