Our big sister site GigaOM has 5 Ways to SMS for Free by Katie Fehrenbacher. Katie mentions TeleFlip, Peekamo, Gizmo SMS, and TxtDrop as possibilities.

Webware offers Six Ways to Improve Twitter, including desktop clients Twitteroo (Windows) and Twitterific (Mac) as well as Twitter badges for your blog.

Relax the Back sells a variety of chairs and office accessories for your ergonomic comfort. I find myself curiously intrigued by their Rocking Foot Machine. It’s like grandma’s rocking chair, but for your feet. They say “just a modest increase in leg activity has been shown to help counteract the negative effects of prolonged sitting at your desk.”

Here’s a career mashup if I ever heard one: journalist-programmers.

Linux for Beginners, in case you tire of Windows and/or OS X.

Ya, saw the GigaOM write-up and followed up with Peekamo. It’s pretty cool, and spoke to the invidual running the operation and he said

quote from email

["...We are very excited and our users enjoy our service. We are a user driven business and evolve to the needs and demands of our users. In a few short weeks, Peekamo 2.0 will be introduced and will bring many new features including a new interface, profiles, mobile social community, personal profiles, a lot more ways to interact using your phone, and more. We are always here for our users and we make every effort to ensure that they understand and are able to use Peekamo to it's full potential..."]

I have spent the last hour, on the site, and though still in beta, it runs very well, fast, and the delivery of each message to my friends has been spot on, with almost no lag time. I even sent messages to my own phone, and it arrived almost as fast as it took me to refresh the online inbox, now that I haven’t seen on other free sms websites.

Keep up the good work Peekamo.

Okay, back to texting, I gotta get my friends on so I can start group messaging.
