Open Thread: What’s Your New Year’s Resolution?

I think this is the year that I’m finally going to get the paper in my office as organized as the files on my laptop. Let’s put it this way…I scan really important papers to save to PDF rather than take a chance of losing them in the clutter that seems to accumulate on the flat surfaces of my desk. Electronically, everything has its place. I can’t stand loose files on my OS desktop. So why can’t I get the same discipline with the real paper in my life? I have no idea, but maybe 2007 is the year I figure it out.
Lifehack.org has an interesting approach to the whole resolution thing, focusing attention on the futility of “deficit thinking.”
Deficit thinking is an ingrained habit of focusing on gaps and weaknesses (the deficit) instead of what’s working (and can be made to work still better). It’s focusing on what you can’t do, not what you can. Instead of your dreams and ambitions propelling you forward, you let the gap between your current state and your desires become a source of frustration and depression. It’s the old business of seeing the glass as half empty.

Web Work 101: How To Escape The Cubicle
This coming year, I vow to keep my inbox under 100. I came close a couple of weeks ago getting it under 300, but now, I’m back up to almost 500. It’s time to get this stress monkey off of my back, and I credit WWD for a lot of the strategies I’m using to finaly get this under control!
My big resolution – figure out work/life balance and eat on time. i hope WWD community helps me with this make over. ;-)
Hummm… how about improve my memory.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the environment lately so I’m going to resolve to make less of an impact, environmentally, than I did last year.
That and I want to get more organized :)
I’m going to make more of an impact in the lives of those I love and for those causes that matter to me. Whether it is a cause that I feel strongly about (cancer, education, giving others a chance to be heard) or the lives of my family and children, I will focus more on what matters beyond just my work.
For 2006 is was to learn sabrage – opening champagne bottles with a sword. Maybe something more techy this time…
I resolve to find ways to make the technology that surrounds me disappear into the background.
I resolve to work hard enough on my web service until it makes the front-page of Gigaom.com :)

Did you really learn sabrage? That’s awesome! I’m focused on what I can do in addition to work in the coming year. Honestly, I doubt I would have come up with that, but it’s very, very cool. Midnight on New Year’s Eve in your house is probably memorable.

Мужики, есть вопрос – все довольны своим парнем? Есть мнение что лишний сантиметр никогда не помешает, как не помешает хорошее вино к ужину. Тем более когда аппарат сам по себе не слишком “уродился”. Так вот, я особоо никогда не жаловался на то что мне не хватало днины или толщины, но разумеетсчя хотелось быть более уверенным. А увереность, братцы, залог успеха. Вот я и задумался что бы мне такое сделать чтобы паренек мой стал на пару сантиметров больше и толще;) По телевизору одну “пургу” несут про всякие “чудо” таблетки, некоторые вообще с головой не дружат и ложатся под нож!!! Я же не хотел рисковать тем, что имею, и решил искать в интернете – здесь много же чего найти можно!!! И вот, не поверите, нашел!! Не только нет риска навредить – ведь тебе не будут ничего резать, предлагать пилюли эти, или мазать дружка непонятными мазями. Так это все и РАБОТАЕТ!! И, как оказывается, проверил это уже не я один:) Так что, мужики, дело за вами! Лично у меня за 4 месяца “работяга” стал больше на 3 см и толще на сантиметр! Жена заметила! Да и не только она;) Вывод хочу сделать такой – не рискуете ни чем – только приобретаете нужные сантиметры – хоть в порно снимайся:):) Ограничений по возрасту тоже нет никаких:) Вот ссылка на ваши будущие сантиметры.
